About Us

Formed in 1955, The Bacchus Foundation is a Philanthropic, social and service organization which introduces and integrates young adults into Kansas City's civic, cultural and educational communities.

The Foundation's primary objective is to conduct fundraising and provide volunteers for an annually selected beneficiary.

Through assisting such worthy causes in our community, Bacchus members have the opportunity to promote their own individual development, as well as to form lasting professional and social relationships with each other.

Though originally conceived to benefit the Kansas City Philharmonic, Bacchus decided to widen its charitable scope in 1959, four years after its inception. Since then, such diverse organizations as the Kansas City Art Institute, the Lyric Theater, Children´s Mercy Hospital, and The Rose Brooks Center for Battered Women, have received both the money raised by Bacchus and the energy generously donated by its many members.

If your organization is interested in submitting an RFP to the Bacchus Foundation's 2008-2009 beneficiary selection committee, more information is available at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation website: http://www.gkccf.org/nonprofits.aspx?id=890&terms=bacchus
